Entry/ Exit Point: Lhasa/Kodari (Nepal-Tibet Border)
Day 01 (Tue): Arrival Lhasa and acclimatization: Drive to the airport for the flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa. This one hour trans Himalayan flight will give you an opportunity to have an aerial view of Mt. Everest and other Himalayan Peaks. Upon arrival in Lhasa you will be transferred to the hotel. This day would be kept for your acclimatization. It is advisable to drink plenty of water and have a good sleep for next day’s program.
Day 02 (Wed): Lhasa sightseeing: Visit Potala Palace and Jokang Monastery today, then walk on the Barkhor Street surrounding Jokhang, a big free market with its prolific stalls for selling local specialties.
Day 03 (Thu): Lhasa Sightseeing: Visit Drepung Monastery for the whole morning, later after lunch, visit Sera monastery. We can do the Sera Kora walk of about 1 hr and then catch the famous debate session (if the debate session is in process) of the monks before returning back to Lhasa
Day 04 (Fri): Drive Lhasa to Yamdrok Lake & back to Lhasa: Today we drive to Yamdrok Lake for a visit. On the old road between Gyanste and Lhasa, dazzling Yamdrok lake can be seen from the summit of the Kamba-la (4794m). The lake lies several hundred meters below the road, and in clear weather is a fabulous shade of deep turquoise. Far in the distance is the huge massif of Mt. Nojin Kangtsang (7191m)
Day 05 (Sat): Drive Lhasa to Gyantse, 300km: Drive to Gyantse, the famous historical city in Tibet, along the Kyichu River. On the Ganba La (4,796 m) have a fantastic view of the holy lake of Yamdrok Yumtso (4441 m). Gyantse, some 200km southwest of Lhasa, is one of the least Chinese-influenced towns in Tibet and is worth a visit for this reason alone. Gyantse is famous for its wool carpets and Palkhor choide chorten. Visit Palkhor Monastery and Kumbum Stupa
Day 06 (Sun): Drive Gyantse to Shigatse: Morning continue driving to Shegar via Gyatsola Mountain Pass (5220m). It takes 6 -7 hours to reach there covering a distance of 310 km. The road is bumpy and dusty. Visit Sakya Monastery en route.
Day 07: Drive Shegar to Rongbuk/Everest Base Camp: Early morning to drive to Rongbuk Monastery. Then hike up to Everest BC. Rest of day own leisure time, you could take a little bit of time to explore the glacier. Check in the only hotel near Rongbuk or you could try to camp there if you are interested in. Today one may enjoy hiking from Rongbuk Monastery to EBC and around EBC to explore the glacier, if the weather is good, one may also camp there.
Day 08: Drive EBC to Tingri: Early morning, witness sunrise at the Everest (weather permitting). Later, enjoy the stunning views of Mt. Everest, drive to Tingri.
Day 09: Drive to Nyalam: In the morning, drive to Nyalam & upon arrival free time at your disposal.
Day 10: Drive Nyalam to Kathmandu: After completing the China Immigration and China Customs formalities, drive down to the other side of Friendship Bridge. Your Tibetan Vehicle will leave you on the Tibet Side of Friendship Bridge and then you’ll cross the bridge on foot before coming across the Nepal Immigration Post where our border handling representative will be waiting for you to guide you towards your vehicle for Kathmandu. From Friendship Bridge to Kathmandu, the distance is about 95 km but due to landslides in between, the distance could be longer so kindly be prepared for those unexpected extra hours. Our vehicle will drop you at your pre-booked hotel in Kathmandu.
